Google Announces New SEO Audit Category in Lighthouse Extension for Chrome
Lighthouse is an open-source project for automated website testing. This tool can be used through a command line, through a Module Node, or as an extension to Chrome browser. Tests can be run over publicly accessible pages, but also over files that are password protected or authenticated.
The site can be tested for example on speed, availability and after new SEO. You’ll see a detailed report of the tests that you’ve done, describing the parts that have been successful and need to be improved. You also have an explanation for each test point on why the solution is good and a link to more detailed resolution of the problem.
The name of the lighthouse in the translation means a beacon to serve the ships so that they do not break through the rocks. In the online world, these tests should be a basic indicator of whether there are any serious mistakes on your site that would run alongside your site on imaginary rocks.
The SEO Audit category provides a basic check of your site’s status and its search engine optimization, pointing to deficiencies and possible improvements. The report says that the list of things in the SEO test is not long and does not provide any guarantees to improve the position. The entire audit was designed to test the basic elements of optimization that each page should meet. Another goal is to guide developers and SEO consultants (from beginners to advanced ones) to solve individual issues.
